Changes are in the works at Koreana Plaza, the massive ethnic superstore in Rancho Cordova. Additions include a new restaurant and patio.

The Red Alcove, a sit-down restaurant, will open Nov. 1 in a space adjacent to the food court at KP International Market inside Koreana Plaza. The restaurant will specialize in Korean barbecue with a “cook-it-yourself” tabletop setup. It will have an atmosphere that’s more formal than the quick-serve food court, which opened in late 2013.

Also, construction is underway on a patio outside the food-court end of the building. Additional details weren’t immediately available, but signs outside the construction area say a patio is “coming soon.”

The market at 10971 Olson Drive is much more than a traditional grocery store. It covers at least 80,000 square feet, and includes a variety of specialty ethnic items spanning multiple cuisines. The market opened in 2003 and also has a store in Oakland.
